Schnauzerish ?

Had enough of your Schnauzer for one day. Then sit back, relax and put your feet up. You can let off a little steam here about things unrelated to your four-legged schnauzer.

Schnauzerish ?

Post by Gina »

Years ago I had a lovely rescue dog called Susie and the vets described her as a Heinz 57 - today I came across this old photo and I reckon that part of the 57 might well have been Schnauzer :)

She was an absolute delight - we had her when she was about 6 from the local Dogs Home and she had a happy, healthy life until she was about 14 - she just got tired and her body gave in in the space of a week. The most loving little soul you could ever wish to have :)

Hi Gina

How funny you didn't make the connection until looking back at the photo with hindsight ;;) Looking at this now, Susie most definitely looks to have Schnauzer genes & maybe something like terrier in the mix too?? Perhaps she has a certain look in the picture that captures her at her most Schnauzer-like?

She looks a very sweet girl with lots of character :ymhug:

Eric, Bearded Collie, left us 2002, aged 15.5
Elsie (Vowchurch Belinda Black), Beardie, rescued 1988, left us 2000, aged 13.5
Monty, Patterdale Terrier X, rescued 2003, left us 2012, aged 12 approx

HI Alison :).

Never really thought about it to be honest - we do comment on hers and ioli's characters being almost identical though. As a family we have always gone for hairy, scruffy, beardy dogs-but I hadn't seen a photo of Susie Q for years.

Us too - first the Bearded Collies and when we got Monty, our Patterdale Terrier cross, from Battersea Dogs Home, we turned down the offer of a Sharpei with no issues (!) because the poor dog just wasn't hairy enough =)) My boys are getting more & more woolly at the moment ;) x

My other Dogs Home girl was Jessie and she was a X beardy bearded collie! We are discovering more and more similarities in our lives Alison :). Ioli is getting used to having me at home at the moment - my next elbow op won't be until April so I won't be back in work until about June - happy days :)

We'll have to make a list one of these days ;)
Btw, if you're off work, but able to walk, maybe we could fit in a dog walk somewhere? :D PM me if you & Ioli fancy it. Meanwhile, hope your 'fixed' elbow is doing well :-bd
