WW1 Centenary

Post by Dawnspell »

This little field was planted in our parish with Flanders poppy seed last year to commemorate the centenary of the start of WW1. Its just coming into flower although its had a bit of a battering with rain and wind this week. Hopefully more will flower in the weeks to come, I'll keep passing. The photos don't do it justice its really pretty.

Wow that is beautiful. I love poppies, they're in full bloom out here in France right now, such a cheerful flower.

Barney sets them off perfectly :D

We have a massive field just round the corner from us which , in 2011, for some reason was just a mass of poppies.

Totally extraordinary, totally natural and never happened before or after. Quite literally was just a sea of red.

Wow that's a lot of poppies, beautiful. Sometimes your eyes just cant take in all the colour when you see something like that.
