I am worried about my puppy's size. At 18.5 weeks of age he is 56 cm tall at the shoulder. Had Grok3 AI check the internet for breed specific information and it came back saying anectodal reports from GS owners shows his growth isn't extreme, just in the upper range, and I shouldn't worry more than the usual amount of puppy care taker worries. According to Grok, he's in the 90-95 percentile regarding size for his age.
I am not convinced. He is way above any tables I found. On the other hand, those tables are based on a strictly linear growth, not accounting for sudden spurts, which I know can be common across mammalian species.
Anyone else had a 18.5 weeks male at 56 cm grow into an healthy adult?
.
Since 10 weeks I have been feeding him a combination of
50% Happy Dog Giant Baby for 45-50 kg adult weight
25% BARF for "all" (medium) breeds, gradually reducing from 10-5% of current weight since 10 week
25% Farmina medium max puppy for 45-50 kg adult weight
..and quite the exact amount of a specific, locally produced treat I was recommended by properly educated personell at local K9 training center.
He was perfectly on track weight wise at 13.5 weeks, and he's not fat, so I haven't worried until I measured his height yesterday. I feel like the growth spurt was quite sudden, like substantially increasing in height over a very short period, hence me measuring.
Please tell me this is normal or give me some emergency guidance on feeding.
I am sort of panicking.

Re: Puppy growing too fast
I don't have experience of a giant but 2 oversized minis. Sometimes it seemed like they grew inches overnight then wouldn't change for a while. If he's not overweight, if you feel his rib cage he should have a good covering of flesh but you should still be able to feel ribs, then I would say his food level is ok. You may find he reaches full height at an earlier age than some and be of normal height. I'm sure hes going to be an healthy adult just maybe a big one.
What I would be careful of is protecting his joints since he's growing fast. Try to keep walks to softer surfaces and avoid walking too much on concrete. Avoid jumping and games that cause him to make quick turns which put a lot of stress on his joints.

Re: Puppy growing too fast
He has a perfectly healthy layer over ribs that can be felt stroking his side with no pressure added. Haven't had to adjust his puppy harness in width.for a long time, the growth seems to be all legs, which are wobbly and all over the place atm. Trying my best to keep him in good positions, but he himself has no such concerns for his joints and is vocally upset I don't reward him for whatever position comes from putting his butt or his elbows on the floor. Hard to keep him from jumping too, as he is a very energetic and curious little boy with no concerns for how his happy exploration of the world is affecting his joints.
Glad to hear it's not so uncommon.

Re: Puppy growing too fast
Thank you for comforting
I haven't got any recent, good full figure photos, and I don't get to take a lot, because he's so busy, he usually don't have the patience to cooperate with my cell phone camera's slow shutter speed. Hope GS lovers find these pleasing enough.
(No captions, cause I'm not sure which photo went where, and please excuse the "grooming". He's my first schnauzer and I am in a learning process
