Fundraising Arrangements for Schnauzerfest

Post by BeeBee »

After consulting widely and pondering for a few weeks, it's been decided that as we want to be as inclusive as possible with the Schnauzerfest Weekend the fundraising element is going to be as relaxed as we hope the dogs (and humans) will be on their walks :)

So, everyone attending Schnauzerfest walks have the choice of how much money they wish to donate to DBARC for the weekend. We are not setting a fee, we are leaving people to donate what they can. It can be as little or large as people choose :) It can be per dog, or per group of dogs, it really doesn't matter. What we want is for people to enjoy a weekend getting out and about with their dogs and enjoying as many walks as we all can and raising some money for DBARC in the process.

By setting a fee, or a fee per dog, it may restrict how many walks people can do, or for those with multiple dog households, it could be prohibitively expensive. We don't want this. We want everyone to be free to give what they wish to and attend more than one walk if they can and they want to. The spirit of the weekend is one of fun, with little restriction. We clearly want to raise a lot of money and are confident that by not setting a fee, people will take part with a generous spirit :D

If individuals wish to raise sponsorship themselves and donate that, that would be amazing, but there is no obligation to do so. We will put up a sponsorship form soon that can be printed off and used if people want to.

The hosts for each walk may choose to organise individual fundraising activities on their walks, a cake sale or a raffle for example have been suggested, but again, there's no expectation that hosts must do this. But, we won't discourage anyone wishing to go the extra pawstep for DBARC :D

No names, attendance registers or checklists for payments made will be taken, we are going with the "honesty box" approach and have every confidence that the weekend will be successful on all levels, not least the fundraising.

Online donations can be made by individuals both before and after each walk by using the link at the end of this post. Putting your name and what walk(s) you're attending is of course welcome, but optional. Remember, no-one is going to be ticking off any lists, we trust that the cause alone will motivate people to donate ;)

Hosts for each walk will also collect donations on the day and forward them to the online link after the walk. If any host has questions on that, or isn't happy doing this, please message me here in good time so that it can be made clear on the walk's details. We will be able to see the amount raised by the weekend by visiting the link at any time. It currently stands at £151 (minus GiftAid), let's make it grow with Schnauzerfests around the country.

We are using both twitter and Facebook for promoting Schnauzerfest. The Facebook page is public and is viewable like any website, you don't need to be signed into Facebook to keep an eye on what's going on there. But all events and information is cross-posted there and here.

We sincerely hope we manage a miracle and this approach keeps everyone happy =))

Now we need more walks being hosted - Scotland is still waiting for its first confirmed event ;;)

With a week to go till Schnauzerfest kicks off it's great to see the fund climbing up.....
.....feel free to make your donations before the walks :D ....and even if you're not getting to any, donations can still be made to be there in spirit, I know at least two people who are doing this :)

I think it is just amazing, I am (almost) lost for words, a rare event indeed =)) =)) =))
The way everyone has got behind this is incredible and a real testament to the work DBARC do and how people want to support that.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave up their time organising the events yesterday and today. The fundraising effort has been extraordinary - I work for a charity and know how hard these things can be! We had a great day and Dexter is a tired pooch today after sniffing all those bottoms xImage

Right now it stands at £5415 (£6582 inc Gift Aid)

Quite staggering generosity by all involved. The collective effort has made it brilliant.

I know a few people who are either going to send me money or still getting their act together to donate on line. I suspect they aren't the only ones, so I'm sure the fund will keep growing for a while yet :D
